13 Run Baseball Office Pool

I found an interesting format for a baseball office pool called 13 Run Pool. This pool does not take much strategy but can add some excitement to the long baseball season. If I were to create one from scratch, I would add a little Office Pool Guy flair to the rules to make it more strategic.

Here is how I would create a: 13 RUN OFFICE POOL

Objective: Is for your team’s total runs in a game to be between 0 and 13. Each total they reach equals one less number that you need to win the pool. The goal is to reach all 13 run totals first.

Group Size: 2-30

1) Each participant puts $20 into the pot.

2) Each participant picks one team to represent them.

Scoring:

  • The total runs of each team will be used.
  • Each number (total runs) that a team gets will be crossed off the chart.
  • All 13 numbers must be crossed off to win.

Optional Rules:

  • Instead of drafting teams, each participant must pick a team for the week (Monday-Sunday).
  • You can only use teams once (survivor format)

Tiebreaker:

  • Highest total runs by a team
  • Total times a team is shutout (0 runs)

3) Create a simple spreadsheet to track the pool like the following: Spreadsheet example

or you could use to track your 13 run pool:

13 run.com

officefootballpools.com

I am really interested in trying one out so I created a pool 13run.com. If you are interested in taking a team email me at dean@officepoolguy.com the team you want and we will start when we get 10 players.

PROS:

  • Simple to track
  • Easy to follow since you only have one team
  • Excitement every day

CONS:

  • Not much strategy
  • Difficult to win
  • Need to keep updated everyday
