Want To Win Your NFL Office Pool…10 reasons to join SBR

If NFL office pools are your cup of tea then you have to join SBRforum.com

What is SBR?

It is one most addictive and comprehensive sports sites I have ever seen.

Here are my top 10 reasons why you should join and add it to your office pool toolbox:

1) It is Free

My first rule when looking for office pool sites is to find free QUALITY information. A lot of free stuff is free for a reason therefore you need to find sites that offer quality content. SBR does just that. You get forums, contests, prizes, picks and much more all for just signing up.

2) SBR Forum

The SBR forum is a very active discussion forum with almost a thousand members. It has every topic imaginable from the NFL to NASCAR, so you should find something of interest. You can read the posts or post yourself at all hours of the day.

3) Office Pools and Contests

This is my favorite part of the site. Everyday you can find contests to play for free. They offer some very unique office pool ideas. You can join an office pool league or tourney or really test your skills as “The Man” and take on all other members. They also have daily, weekly and season long office pool contests. You can play in a NFL Survivor pool contest one day and a College Football Pickem contest the next. Most contests award SBR points which can be used to purchase cash prizes.

4) SBR Points and Cash Prizes

The site is free to join but offers many rewards.  In particular is the use of  SBR points. These points make coming to the site worthwhile because they can be exchanged for real prizes such as clothing, books, food and what I play for…electronics (tv, X-Box, Computers etc). It is easy to earn SBR points because they are given for winning contests, posting in the forum, and just plain logging into the site.

5) Picks and Selections

Another great feature comes from the members themselves. Members post advice and selection on each and every game that is played. They tell you which teams are going to win and which to watch out for. The members normally post their records so you know which ones to follow and which members to avoid. It really helps me in my office pools because it helps to confirm my selections.

6) The Think Tank

This forum area gives trend and stats to help you with your handicapping of the games. I am a big fan of using trends especially in my NFL office pools. If you want to know which teams play well in week 1 or which teams are good at home then this area is for you.

7) Handicapping Services

If you don’t like the member picks then you can go to this area and pick up selections from some of the best handicapper around. It also helps to keep an eye on who is hot and who is not so that if need that last minute Survivor winner you know who to follow.

8) Live odds

If you want to know the odds of a certain game then just go to the “SBR Live Odds Area”. From here you can find out the point spreads offered by ten of the most popular sports books. You can watch line moves easily and find where the money is going. This section also has links to weather, injury and statistical information for all the games.

9) Picks Spreadsheet

The site also provides members with a spreadsheet that will easily track your picks and selections.  This helps so that you know what types of picks are winning and which are losing. This can be valuable in making sure your not picking too many favorites or home teams.

10) Information, Tips and Other Bonuses

This site is chalk full of handicapping information and tips. Granted it is tailored to those making real money bets, but I do think their is tons of valuable ideas here. If you are interested in placing real money bets this site can help you get in and get an edge.

SBR is one of my favorite sites and I highly recommend it for those wanting to win their office pools. It is my NFL office pool one stop shopping.

Free Office Pool Suvivor Contest Give Chance At $100,000

For the past year I have been trying to win Covers Streak Survivor and take home the grand prize of $100,000.

In this FREE contest you have to pick one game a day  in any sport in an effort to pick 25 games correctly in a row. Miss and your your streak starts over, get it correct and your on your way to 25 straight and the 100 grand.

Sound easy? Well think again. This contest could be one of the most difficult ones out there.

Here are of the features that make it so challenging:

  • All picks are against the spread.
  • Covers picks the games you can choose from.
  • The games are all evenly matched.

Well let me tell you, trying to win this contest has truly been a journey.  This has been a journey that has taken me from the depths of the NFL to  the far reaches of the WNBA. Through this process of picking games and starting my streak, I have learned many valuable lessons about office pools. I have learned something about all the sports (I got frustrated and started picking games in random sports) and something about picking games in general.

Here are my TOP TEN LESSONS learned from Covers Streak Survivor:

  1. MLB – Home field advantage is a myth
  2. NFL – Could there be more parity in the league
  3. College Football – They are 30 point underdogs for a reason
  4. College Basketball – 6 points ATS, 10 seconds is not a sure thing
  5. NBA – Could there be any less parity in the league
  6. CFL – What they only get 3 downs? How is anyone to cover the spread.
  7. Arena Football – Lots of points means lots of last second covers
  8. WNBA – I know nothing about the WNBA
  9. Don’t rush to make your picks they never win.
  10. 17 wins and $1000 may be a more reachable goal.

With all this knowledge, I plan to continue plugging away one game at a time until I reach my goal. Give it try you will never want to stop.

For only $10 you can enter this very interesting pool that allows you to pick all the World Cup games at the beginning of the tournament. • Solves the “no day off problem”

CONs:

  • Must pick all the games BEFORE the tournament
  • Don’t know any of the participants so less trash talkin’ and enjoyment
  • Not a well-known office pool site
  • No bonus points – lose your World Cup finalists and your done
  • Allows multiple entries (I don’t care for this idea)

Overall: If you don’t have a World Cup pool at your office you may want to consider this one. The Office Pool Guy will be throwing his $10 into this pool just to see what happens. Let me know how it goes.

Office Pool Website Review – Automate The Office Pool Payment Process

WEEKEND WEBSITE REVIEW:

Every weekend I would like to review an office pool, website or tool from around the web. I will be giving an in-depth review of the quality, simplicity and creativity of the pool, tool or website so that we make informed decisions when starting out.

LeagueSafe.com

One of the most difficult things about running an office pool is the collection and payment process. Handling office pool money can be a very overwhelming process that can frustrate many commissioners. Should you collect the money up front? Where do house the money? How do you get people their share? Sometimes the process takes weeks to accomplish with many headaches along the way.

That is where League Safe comes in. League Safe automates the process by securing the office pool funds online in an FDIC-insured bank account. Participants can log in and pay their entry fees and get their winnings without the commissioner handling a thing. Pretty slick. Best of all most of the transactions are FREE.

Features:

  • 2 Setup Options – Traditional (less commissioner control) and Express (more commissioner control)
  • Free
  • 7 seasons available (NFL, PGA, NASCAR, MLB, College football and basketball and NHL)
  • Late payment option
  • Commissioner reimbursement option (not recommended by the Office Pool Guy..see “7 Step to making your pool legal”)
  • Auto-Nag feature and personalized invitations

PROs:

  • FREE is always nice – 100% returned to participants
  • Lots of options for the commissioner
  • Ease of use
  • Makes commissioner’s life easier
  • Majority vote option for payouts (so you can have strangers in the league)
  • Very nice website

CONs:

  • Payments must be made by e-check only unless you use their paid option and no PayPal option
  • No World Cup or other events offered (though you could probably use it under one of the others and change the deadline)
